Global Switch, a worldwide data center provider, hosted telecom operator Level 3's Point of Presence (PoP) in Clichy, France. The operator provided over 4,000 services, including dark fiber, DWDM, SDH, IP and third-party access services. The PoP also housed 10 Level 3 colocation customers, including leading companies such as Telecom Italia and IBM.
Having opted for alternative hosting, Level 3 commissioned Entegro, a subsidiary of the Kyntus group, to carry out the transfer.
The operator's objective was to leave the site within 10 months, ensuring the migration of all its customers and associated services to the target hosting. The operation also involved removing all equipment and infrastructure, and restoring the site to its original state.
This major migration project was carried out on schedule, with no negative impact on Level 3 customers.
A real success for this complex operation: the site represented the customer's second largest IP services gateway in Europe, with over 4,000 services, 9 OSP fibers, more than 500 access circuits, 9 metropolitan sites and 21 network sites impacted.
A number of similar operations were subsequently carried out by Kyntus in Europe and the United States.
